SERIOUS CRIME CASES CAN’T BE QUASHED EVEN IF SUCH CASES SETTLED AMICABLY: SUPREME COURT

The Supreme Court ruled that criminal proceedings in serious crimes like mental depravity or offences such as murder, rape, dacoity and financial fraud can’t be quashed even if parties settle dispute amicably as such offences are not private in nature. The court passed this order while dismissing an appeal filed by four persons seeking quashing of the FIR against them for allegedly grabbing land on the basis of forged documents in Gujarat.
