HC ISSUES CONTEMPT NOTICE TO 2 AP IAS OFFICERS

Taking a serious note of the scant regard being shown by AP authorities towards the orders of the court, the High Court on Friday issued contempt notices to AP municipal administration principal secretary Karikal Valevan and state election commissioner Ramesh Kumar and directed them to be present in court on August 4. They were asked to explain as to why they failed to comply with the court order in respect of conducting elections to the muncipal corporation of Kakinada.

NO ARREST IN 498-A, BEFORE COMMITTEES REPORT SUPREME COURT OF INDIA

TELANGANA: TECHIE ASSAULTS WIFE OVER BABY GENDER TEST

Mittapalli Ramesh, 35, a software professional, had been harassing his pregnant wife suspecting that the baby in her womb was female. When his wife refused to go for gender determination tests he started abusing her physically. Unable to bear the torture she lodged a complaint with Uppal police. TWO MEN HELD BY CYBER CRIME FOR DUPING WOMAN

The Hyderabad Cyber Crime sleuths have arrested two Delhi-based cheaters, including a Nigerian, for duping a Hyderabadi woman of Rs 2.32 lakh on the pretext of marriage through a matrimonial site.

NEW VISA FORM ASKS FOREIGN APPLICANT’S PAST CRIMINAL HISTORY

The Central government is working on a revised visa format to capture a foreign applicant's criminal history, including in cases of child abuse, the government informed the Lok Sabha. At present, there was no provision for declaring record of criminal prosecution in the existing visa form.

Bangalore Cybercrime sleuths from Criminal Investigation Department have busted a phishing racket, and arrested four persons from Jharkhand, and recovered details of 16,000 bank accounts and seized 460 Sim cards from them.

The Supreme Court ruled that the biological age is considered and not mental age of a rape survivor for deciding whether or not the case would be filed under stringent law of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Fifteen more Tollywood personalities are likely to receive notices from the Telangana Excise Department in the coming days as part of its investigation in drug racket which was busted recently.

SPECIAL TASK FORCE ARRESTED ANOTHER DRUG SELLER

Piyush Auluck, a cybernetics graduate and a drug peddler was arrested by the Hyderabad police from his East Marredpally residence with at least 80 LSD blots. Excise sleuths also seized, 2,746 strips containing a concoction of chemicals suspected to be LSD, 20 grams of ganja, 40 grams of caffeine powder.

EXCISE DEPARTMENT SEND NOTICES TO TOLLYWOOD CELEBRITIES FOR THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN DRUG CASES

The Telangana State Prohibition and Excise department send notices to six more Tollywood personalities for questioning their links with the drugs mafia under section 67 of the NDPS Act. Earlier ten others had received notices regarding drugs case. All 16 have to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on or before July 19.

TRS MLA ARRESTED AND RELEASED ON BAIL FOR MISBEHAVING WITH WOMAN DISTRICT COLLECTOR

B Shankar Naik, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party MLA was arrested for misbehaving with a woman District Collector in Mahabubabad district during the Haritha Haram programme. However, he was later granted bail on a personal bond after appearing in Mahabubabad police station.

NO LAW TO DEAL WITH CHAIN SNATCHERS IN DELHI

As many as 25 cases of snatching are reported every day in the Delhi, but there is no law to deal with this crime cases like bags and mobiles being grabbed by robbers, cops take recourse of two sections of the Indian Penal Code: theft and using criminal force during theft. While Haryana amended its rulebook to deal with snatchings there, two additions to Section 379 dealing with theft -379A and 379B -make snatching a non-bailable crime.

CAB DRIVER ARRESTED FOR RAPING MENTALLY ILL WOMAN

A 38-year-old woman suffering from a mental illness was allegedly raped by a cab driver at a house in Ghaziabad last week. The accused, who had lured her on the pretext of a job, has been arrested and sent to Tihar Jail.

OFFENSIVE SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ON SC/STs COMMUNITY IS PUNISHABLE: DELHI HIGH COURT

The Delhi High Court ruled that any offensive post on social media targeting an individual of the SC/ST community, even if made in a closed group, is punishable. In a key ruling that plugs the gap between online abusers and their prosecution, the court made it clear that Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, will apply if a casteist slur is made against a person from these communities.

COMPLAINT AGAINST CHILD CARE HOME ORGANIZER FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING MINOR GIRL

MUMBAI SPECIAL COURT IMPOSED 7-YEAR IMPRISONMENT TO A MAN FOR CHILD ABUSE

A Special Court in Mumbai convicted a sex offender, Ayyaz Mohammadali Ansari, to seven-year imprisonment in two separate cases of abuse of minors. This is the fourth case in which Ansari has been convicted. He was already convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a 10-year-old. In another case, a metropolitan magistrate sentenced Ansari to five-year imprisonment.
